Hello UT baseball fans!  I am so excited that baseball season is finally here.  I had some great ideas for the site this year, however I am busy planning a wedding, working full time and going to graduate school part time so I am not sure how much time I will have for the site.  I will try and at least have some pictures up occasionally.
I am ready for the game tomorrow.  I really enjoy going to games at the Dell Diamond but can't wait to see Disch-Falk when all the renovations are done.  See you at the game!

Well I guess its time for a little update again.  I was too sad and depressed after regionals to really write much or put up any pictures. I did watch a little bit of the Super Regionals and Omaha but it just wasn't the same this year.  Also, I have played soccer all my life so I have been watching the World Cup lately.
I think the team next year will come back stronger and more experienced but I don't want to wait till March for the season to start.  I would like it to start next week.
Speaking of next season, I would like to wish Carson Kainer and his dad Ron the best of luck and I am sending my prayers to you.  I know you will do great Carson and can't wait to watch you playing again.  Statesman.com Story

Its Regional Time!
The horns looked good in their first game of the regionals.  I believe they can take care of Stanford if they play the way they did last night.  It was more interesting in regionals was the upsets already starting to happen.  I think the biggest one might have been Manhattan over Nebraska but I think Nebraska is a good enough team that they can come back and win that regional, it will just be harder now.  Time to head out to the Disch.

Well I think the team did fine against Nebraska.  I am not a huge fan of conference tourneys, I think they are kind of pointless but it was nice to see Kansas win it and receive the automatic bid to the NCAA playoffs.  I still think the regular season winner should be rewarded that in all sports.  I guess winning the tournament is favoring teams that are hot at the end of the season.
I am also glad to see Austin as an official regional host but want to know if we are a top 8 seed or not.  I have to work tomorrow so will be trying to track it on the computer or will be calling everyone I know to see what seed we got.  Until then I will be pacing back and forth.

I was feeling frustrated after the Mizzou series but now have more faith in seeing how the team played against Tech and Baylor in the Big 12 Tournament.  The hitting, pitching and defense looks sharp.  I am also excited because I haven't seen the team play in a month and am glad that today's game against Nebraska is on TV.  Hopefully I will be watching the Horns tomorrow at 1:00 too.  After the baseball game today I plan to watch Cat and company win and head to the Women's College World Series.  Go Horns!

This weekend = frustration and confusion
I hope we can win a few games in the conference tournament and still get a top 8 national seed.  I guess we will see what happens

2006 BIG 12 BASEBALL CONFERENCE CHAMPIONS!!!!
Since Nebraska and OU did horrible the past few weekends, Texas already clinched the conference championship with a series to go.  I still hope that the team will sweep Missouri to reach that magic 40 wins.  It looks like the team did good this past weekend against Dallas Baptist but I was unable to go to the games because I had to graduate.  I now have to go a month without watching any UT games in person, I think I might go crazy without my baseball fix.  Once again, Congrats to Augie and the team for winning the first championship of the season.

For those that actually check this site occasionally, I have some pictures from Monday's A&M game but have been dealing with finals so hopefully I will get those and some pictures from the Kansas series up after this weekend.  I am one paper away from graduation and the pictures will go up after that is done.
On a side note, it was nice to see a fairly decent crowd out last Monday for the A&M game.  I was able to attend because I don't have class on Mondays but it I think several other people took a sick day with orange fever.  It was great sweeping A&M, they are not a good team and it would have been pathetic to lose a game to them.
Time to get ready to head out to the Disch.  Hook 'em

Well it was a tough weekend.  I really felt that is a few things went our way here or there, we would have won the series.  Attention Mr. Bill Davis- Drew Stubbs was safe at second.  It seemed we weren't getting a few breaks here and there, of course errors hurt too, they always do.  I still think this team has the talent and potential to win it all, they just need to click come play off time.  Last year we were worse in conference and wound up winning it all so you never know what happens.  I will be there this coming Friday and watching us beat up on A&M.  Hook'em Horns

Here is my foul ball story from the Friday night Baylor game.
So I have been going to games at the Disch for 20 something years and tonight I got my first foul ball. I don't remember the inning but Bradley Suttle ( I think) hit a high pop fly into the stands and while people around me reached for it I just sat there. I didn't think it would come to be cause it never does. I didn't even try to get it and it landed in my lap. I was like cool, I got a foul ball and was very excited. Now I have a big ol bruise to prove it that hurts like hell. I am proud of my first foul ball and even more proud that it came from a game when we got a win.
Here is the picture of my ball and my lovely bruise the size of the ball.

The team did awesome the past few weekends with getting some sweeps in conference play.  I hope we can take 2 of 3 from Nebraska next weekend.  I also happy that the bullpen is coming around and one of my favorites, Austin Wood is really showing that he should be the closer.  I think we have something with Krebs as set up man and then Wood as the closer.
It was a great sweep of Baylor and to Mr. Danks, great hustle and get better soon.

So here I am here in the wonderful sin city- Las Vegas.  Well we went to the game last night, I don't think I have ever seen a game where a team gave up a 10-0 lead and I hope I never have to again.  They did almost make a comeback in the top of the ninth but too little too late.  I would say however that about half of the fans are Texas fans here.
There were also some loud UNLV fans and had a few favorite cheers such as "Brokeback Mountain, clap clap clap" whenever our players seem to hit each other on the backside.  The other popular ragging of our players was "left,right,left,right,left,right...SIT DOWN" whenever one of our players struck out with the left, right following the players footsteps.
Friday's game was very windy, and it was blowing out, not at the fans like at Disch-Falk in February.  The wind made it cold and also made things fly such as Nick's hit on the first pitch of the game.  We also had airplanes fly over about the stadium about every 5 minutes or so pretty low because the airport is about 1-2 miles from the stadium.
Time for me to get ready, eat lunch, tailgate and watch some baseball.  Hook'em

Well it has been a few years since I lasted updated the site but it now has a new design, a slight change in format and will be a lot easier for me to try and update this time around.  I hope to have pictures up and any news I can find.  I can't wait for the alumni game tomorrow!  I know its going to rain, well it has to, its the alumni game.  I am just curious whether it will rain/thunderstorms will cancel it or if I will be sitting in the cold and drizzle. I am excited to see the team back in Omaha and repeat as National Champions.  Watching the football team win the Rose Bowl just got me all fired up for baseball season.  See you at Disch-Falk.

As we speak, I am packing up (clothes and beer) for a little trip down to Houston to watch the Horns kill Rice, Houston and Ohio State. I would do updates from there but I likely won't have any computer access. The weather looks nasty, but at least Minute Maid Park has the ugly moldy roof for us to sit under.
Last weekend I went to some of the San Diego series, the team looked good. Pitching is still a little raw and the defense needs to shape up but that will get better throughout the season. It was nice to see J.P. Howell get some work in. I think he will be a dominant force come conference time. I don't have any huge notes to comment on the San Diego series, but my sister did think one of the San Diego players, #17, was very cute though. She almost cheered for him too until I hit her upside her head.
This weekend I think they team will look better and sharper but will have a harder time offensively as they will be facing some better pitching. Defensively, the team needs to shape up or they will get killed. Give a team like Rice and few runs and they will beat you.
Everyone have a fun weekend and hopefully I should have some pictures and updates from this weekend. Just depends when I get free time from school.

Well I thought I already wrote something up on the Alumni game but I guess I forgot to save it. The Alumni game was lots of fun of course and it was nice to see the older guys come back and play some more. Most of the guys who got drafted within the last 3 years where there along with Brooks Keischnick, Greg Swindell and Stephen Randolph as some of the older alumni. I was hoping the game would go longer cause you really got to see each batter hit only once, maybe twice and each pitcher only face a few batters.
As for the Hawaii series, well I wish I could have gone. I was a bad baseball fan and didn't really listen to the games much cause I was out with friends and Saturday night drove down to San Antonio to support some friends in their lacrosse game. I did listen to some of the game Sunday, I'm glad I didn't listen Saturday cause I would have been yelling at the radio and throwing things at it. I think the defense should shape up, we will just see how long it takes for that to happen.
I got 3 classes today then I am off to Disch-Falk field to sit in those freezing cold stands and watch the boys take on San Diego. I will be the blonde girl under 10 blankets in section 3 if anyone wants to come by and say hi. It might be cold but I am so excited to watch the Horns play. From watching the San Diego series last year, I think the Horns should take this series easily and it will allow Augie to try out different players and see what works best. I will have pictures and some reports hopefully from this weekend. Go Horns!

Tomorrow is the Alumni game and I'm excited! Hopefully it won't rain too bad during the game, but there is a 70% chance. Looks like a great list of players coming in, mostly players who have left in the past few years. I personally can't wait to see Ryan Hueble. It will also be cool to see Brooks again, I wonder if he still has that little wiggle when he bats. I plan to take my camera tomorrow and get some good pics to put on the website as long as its not too wet outside. Hopefully there will be a good crowd there and a good scrimmage to watch. I will have an recap after the game sometime this weekend. Hook 'em

Well I finished the first week of school for this spring semester, and so far all my classes look somewhat interesting, it should be a busy semester though. I am more excited however for baseball season. The alumni game is next weekend and I cannot wait. It should be good to see some of the old guys come back. I personally want to see Ryan Hueble for sure and of course several others, hell Roger Clemens might even show up. This game will also give the first good preview of the Longhorns for the 2004 season. I'm also excited because today, my dad and I finalized our trip plans to Houston in February to watch the Horns play at the Astro's College Classic. Last year my dad and I went to San Diego for a weekend to watch the Horns play and it was a blast. I think we are starting a new tradition where each season, me and him will have a father-daughter baseball trip getaway thing. As long as he is paying for most of it, it?s fine with me.
Last Saturday I did manage to make it over to practice to watch the boys for a little bit. I really don't have much to report on but Augie had them doing a variety of drills and game situations and in the scrimmage, it seems that the pitchers were getting hit up more than they were striking out people. I didn't keep stats though and was talking to people while I was watching so I could be wrong about this. Teagarden did hit a monster shot that hit off the wall in right field that was a stand up triple and Nathan Warrick is really fast, he will have several stolen bases this year. Also, Drew Stubbs has some good size on him and Bryan Herrera made a nice and kind of awkward catch in the outfield. The team looked good, but still needs improvement. I didn't note any really outstanding plays on offense or defensive. However the losing team did have to run 6 laps around the stadium after practice and that looked pretty brutal, however Huston Street and Justin Simmons were the first two to finish with some of the other pitchers leading the pack too. As usual, it was cold at the Disch and I wish I would have brought a blanket. Sounds like its time for some college baseball and I?m ready.

I decided to start a little column/journal/news thing for the site. I guess us webmasters will write whatever we are feeling about the team during the season. If you don't like what I have to say, well I don't care. But thanks for checking out the site. :) Also if you want to write something e-mail it to me and I will put it up.
Well I can't wait for the season to start so during the off-season I decided to watch baseball movies which made me want the season to start even more. Also watching the Texas football team lately has also made me wish baseball season was already here. I am really excited about how this team will come together this year. I think having Dennis Cook helping out can't be anything but good, and it never hurts to have an extra coach around which we didn't have the past few years. I am also excited to see how Tom Holiday does. He produced several great pitchers at Oklahoma State but will he have the same success at Texas? I think he was a good hire and Augie is a great coach and hires good assistants. When those assistants don't work out (Burt Hooton), Augie gets rid of them. Just because you are a great player of the game doesn't make you a great coach. Part of the fun of watching sports is watching the game, if you knew what was going to happen and how each team would do during the season, it wouldn?t be any fun to watch.
I will leave it at that for today and write up more stuff later. Have a great day and Hook 'em
